What in the parenting is this now?
We always say that being a parent is no easy task. It can be nerve-wracking to constantly questioning yourself as to whether the decision you made is the 'right' or 'wrong' one.
Essentially, there is no right or wrong way of parenting. And we think that that is the main takeaway from this story. Although if we were not parents, we would say, perhaps this is a bit too early for a 13-year-old to have this kind of responsibility...
A mother from Gauteng decided that she wanted to stick to her promise with her son. And so she did, she had promised him two years ago that when he turned 13, she would teach him how to drive.
"When he turned 13 on Wednesday she said she realised that he could not learn to drive on her big automatic vehicle." (IOL)

He needs a manual car to learn. And he will learn driving in our estate until such time when the law allows him to get the right documents and drive in the streets. So today I got him a small manual wheels to teach him how to drive a car. He will learn, make mistakes and be a perfect driver who will run our errands.
She is embracing her role as a parent that sticks to her promises, so really can we throw shade at her for that?
Enforcing the ideal that she is an individual that sticks to her word says a lot about her.
And we think that sits well with children. It also shows her commitment to the development of her son, she wants to teach him about responsibility and that can create a strong foundational grounding for a child. Most of all, it shows this young man that his mother trusts him.
