A 79-year-old woman from Madrid passes away from COVID-19 and is eaten by her cats.
We've had friends or family who have spoken out about their fears of dying alone, but we always just brush it off with a "No, don't say that" or "You won't be alone, you have us..."
But then when we hear about stories such as these, we have to stop and reflect on the reality of some of these fearful scenarios. The truth is that all these fears arise from the fact that it happened to someone out there, right? But that shouldn't be the reason we decide to live in fear, should it?
We opt for being fearless, even after hearing this story. A 79-year-old Spanish woman by the name of Clara Ines Tobon was found deceased at her home in northern Madrid, Spain.
Half of her body was eaten by her cats, five out of the seven cats were also found dead in the apartment. Neighbours told the press that they believe she died of COVID-19, reports Daily Mail.
Two of the cats have been taken to animal rescue.
After a smell and swarms of flies emerged from the apartment, the neighbours called the police and the fire department forced entry into the apartment.
The results of the post mortem have yet to be revealed, but it is believed that she had been dead in her apartment for around three months. Clara was said to have lived in the building since 1996 and all her family is said to be in Colombia.

Regardless of what may have happened, we hope that her family can find some peace with the way she passed. It's a huge reminder to all of us that life is short and we should always take every opportunity to let our loved ones know that we love them and check in on them as much as possible.
No one deserves to die alone, and with the way things are going in this world, we have to try and make sure that our elders know that they are loved and that they are not alone.
