Mzansi reacts to President Cyril Ramaphosa receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccine
Updated | By El Broide
South Africans had a lot to say about the President’s
COVID-19 jab.
Wednesday was a monumental day in South Africa’s fight against COVID-19. The first batch of Johnson & Johnson vaccines arrived in the country on Tuesday night and have since been dispatched to various vaccine centres around the country. Alongside health workers, President Cyril Ramaphosa and Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize were amongst the first government officials to receive the jab – and Mzansi had a lot to say!
The President was vaccinated at the Khayelitsha District Hospital in Cape Town and was in good spirits when he received his dose of the vaccine.
“I’ve just had my vaccination and I must say that at first, I was a bit terrified of this long needle that was going to be embedded into my arm. It happened so quickly, so easily. It was just a prick on my flesh and I really did not feel much pain,” the President told EWN after receiving his dose.

Naturally, Mzansi had a lot to say about the arrival of the vaccine and the fact that the doses are being administered so quickly.
“These vaccines arrived last night. Did our doctors and scientists approve them??? We are not fools you know,” one Twitter user said.
Another added that they hope the vaccine also cures the government of corruption. “I hope it also works on liberating you from the capitalistic forces that have captured you,” the user said.
A third added: “Stop injecting yourself with paracentemol Cupcake, we watching you”, to which another replied: “Not even paracetamol, they mixed Oros with water!”

The shade didn’t stop there!
“Hope it helps him grow some big kahunas so he can stand up for the country and himself,” an East Coast Radio listener posted on our Facebook page. Another added: “Who remembers what Johnson and Johnson baby powder did ? but now we must trust the vaccine aaahh j j no no no no.”
