Marriages are what couples make of them and, for the most part, we love that social media is being used in a positive light with couples from different cultural backgrounds.
One woman who shared a part of her journey as a daughter-in-law with her Chinese in-laws grabbed our attention.
In a video, she talks about her middle-aged Chinese mother-in-law who has been overly involved in her pregnancy.
She is anything but disrespectful, which we appreciated. But more than that, she shares how her mother-in-law has done some absurd things during her pregnancy thus far.
For one, she has lent her daughter-in-law her SUV, saying it will be easier for her to move around in the SUV.
But that was not the most absurd thing; she believes in traditional medicine and purchased something called, Edible Bird's Nest.
The thing about these edible bird's nests is they are considered the caviar of Asia. And this TikToker has shared that her mother-in-law paid $3,000 for 18 pieces (R55,152).

@carsonandmona My dietitian did confirm this is high in collagen & is good for the babys skin… but NOT worth the money at all 🥲 #pregnacy #birdsnest #chineseremedy ♬ original sound - Carson & Mona | 🇨🇳🇧🇩
