Is Melania Trump breaking an age-old tradition because of jealousy?

On the 20th of January, Joe Biden will be sworn in as the 46th President of the United States, and it seems like the current first lady is still not welcoming him and his family with open arms.
Nobody likes a sore loser.
President Donald Trump has been very vocal about the fact that he will, very soon, no longer be the commander in chief.
It also seems that although she is much more reserved than her husband, Melania Trump is stirring up some drama of her own.

The current first lady is breaking a tradition that has been upheld for decades.
According to Kate Andersen Brower, the author of 'First Women: The Grace and Power of America's Modern First Ladies', there is a tradition that dates all the way back to 1952.

Referred to as the "tea and tour", Bess Truman, wife of the former US President Harry Truman, created this tradition when she welcomed Mamie Eisenhower with a tour of the White House.
Mamie was set to become the next first lady as her husband, Dwight D. Eisenhower, was elected as the then-future President which led to Truman extending the invite.

Since then, every outgoing first lady would do the same, by inviting the future first lady for their own version of a transfer-of-power ritual prior to the actual inauguration.
Even though Trump's own presidential election was hugely controversial in 2016, former first lady Michelle Obama did not let personal feelings or the fact that they were opposing parties stop her from continuing the custom with Melania.

Now, after initially putting up a big fight, the Trump family is leaving as quickly as possible by exiting Washington, DC before Biden's inauguration and Melania has also NOT invited future first lady Jill Biden for the customary "tea and tour", according to CNN.
Melania has caused a major upset with her decision and it seems as though this is her, and possibly her husband's, way of standing their ground one last time.
To many, it just seems like a very rude and tasteless act of defiance.

Carol Ofori also thinks that the green-eyed-monster might have had an influence on Melania's seemingly spiteful decision.
