Man asks woman for R520 refund after rejecting him on third date

The woman shared the messages she received on social media
– and it quickly went viral.
Dating is certainly a daunting, draining, and expensive task. While it’s become a standard procedure in the search for love, often times a couple realise they are not meant for each other after a few dates.
However,
one woman got more than she bargained for when a man she rejected after their third
date asked her for a R520 refund – and the internet is shook!
Alex Colboth, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, shared shocking messages from a man she met on a dating app. He asked her for a refund after she decided that they weren’t a match. In the message, the man asked that she pay for half of the cost of the three dates they've been on.
Alex shared the screengrabs on Twitter with the caption, "It's the audacity for me."

In the messages, the man wrote: "Hi Alex, hope
you're doing well. Would you mind letting me know what your Venmo is? The
reason I ask is since you and I won't be seeing each other anymore, it's only
fair to ask for equal payment from you for the dates we went on.”
The man adds: "I believe it was 3 separate times we went out bars/restaurants where I paid for us both each time. I'd say $35 is more than fair for your food and drinks that I got during those dates. I view that as a fair girl, I hope you'll consider reimbursing me. Thanks!"

Alex, however, reveals that she won’t be reimbursing the man when she tweeted a GIF of Boo from 'Monsters Inc' going to sleep, with the caption: "How I’m going to sleep tonight knowing I still have that $35."
She reveals that she decided not to pay the man back because she offered to pay on the dates and the man refused.

The tweet has since gone viral with over 185,000 likes and, for the most part, people on Twitter seem to be sympathetic to her predicament.
“Him asking for the dates to be split evenly isn't the issue here," one user replied. "It’s that he waited until AFTER he knew things wouldn’t continue to ask, so he wasn’t paying to be nice in the first place, he was paying with the expectation of some reward (sex, companionship, etc) which is weird."
Another added: "You dodged a bullet."
A third said: "The responses to this thread are WILD. Dudes, either pay for the date with no expectations or ask to split the bill upfront. I have always done the former. No shame if you want to do the latter. But asking for money after things didn’t work out? That’s petty and ridiculous."
