Local illustrator Yay Abe collaborates with KFC on streetwear collection

The fried chicken favourite is celebrating its 50th anniversary by showcasing amazing local talent.
What is more iconic than KFC's 11 secret herbs and spices?

The first thing that tends to pop into your head when you hear that name is the mouth-watering fried chicken and maybe the familiar face of the Colonel.
But let's not forget the chicken bucket.
The bucket can be so much more than just a container for your meal and can carry true significance in many families.

That's why KFC decided to keep it local and lekker when they approached illustrator Russell Abrahams (also known as Yay Abe) and asked him to design their 50th anniversary limited-edition Birthday Buckets.

The Cape Town-based artist was inspired by KFC's own heritage as well as Mzansi's own culture when he was creating his designs.
Of course, he added his own bold, bright, and playful style to these illustrations.

The collab doesn't end there, though!
They're taking these designs to the streets as well, by creating a limited-edition streetwear line with fashion brand, Thesis Lifestyle.

Thesis Lifestyle founders, Wandile Zondo and Galebowe Mahlatsi, created the brand hoping to inspire future generations, so they welcomed this collaboration with open arms.
The collection includes everything from T-shirts to vests, tote bags, and, of course, bucket hats!

And not only does the collection look incredibly cool, but 50% of the money made from the sales will also be donated to the KFC Add Hope programme.
So if you're a KFC mega-fan, or just like the look of these pieces, then you need to make sure you get your hands on them before they're sold out. There are only 100 of each item!
