LISTEN: Wendy Knowler helps KZN with their consumer-related queries

What does a defective car tracker, a tenancy dispute, and returning a product all have in common?
As consumers, there are many moments where we feel lost or misinformed. It doesn't help when you have a dispute with someone, a company, a landlord or a service provider.
The thing is that many times we get trapped - hook, line and sinker, because of the technical approach that some people use. Then before you know it, you are left unsupported with money out of the bank, and another party unwilling to help you...
This is what happened with some of our listeners this week, and our resident consumer watch expert, Wendy Knowler, came to the rescue. The first incident was about a tenant who was not happy with what he saw in a rental that he already paid a deposit toward.
Now he is stuck without his deposit and a potential new rental, as the landlord refuses to pay back his deposit. It can certainly be scary dealing with someone who is bullying you, but verbal agreements can be binding. Find out how Wendy Knowler advises this KZN listener.
Then there was another listener who shared their problem.
"My vehicle got stolen in November 2021. Insurance company blames me for the tracking device not working. How do I resolve this... insurance company does not want to settle my claim and I am paying for a vehicle I don't have. Need your advice." (KZN listener)
And the third advice seeker brought up a very pressing issue among many consumers. Check out his tweet below.

And knowing about the limitations or the extensions that we have as consumers can certainly be very helpful. But if there is one thing that the consumer watch Queen has left us with, it's that we should always read the small print...
