Many of us are confused or feel uninformed when it comes to the process of deployment of the South African Defence Force (SANDF). This motivated Carol Ofori and team to reach out to the SANDF and find out what the process is when it comes to handling the state of unrest that has been pouring through KZN.

The SANDF Union National Secretary Pikkie Greeff spoke about the fact that the military are not trained to retreat, they move around to act in defence when it comes to criminal activity.

He spoke about the rapid deployment force that takes around 48 hours to deploy. He also shared that when it comes to the actual on-the-ground military, only 8,000 of the soldiers have been deployed for the peace-keeping mission.

The army will not be taking an aggressive stance against the members of the community and they have been instructed to always keep the peace wherever possible. He encouraged communities to let the army do their jobs. He also stated that this is the biggest deployment of the military since 1994.
