Kolisi Foundation pleading with South Africa to donate blankets
Updated | By East Coast Radio
The Kolisi Foundation, founded by Siya and Rachel Kolisi, is holding a blanket drive and aims to donate 1,000 blankets to the less fortunate.
Springbok captain Siya Kolisi and his wife Rachel established their foundation in April 2020.
"The Foundation was birthed through Siya and Rachel’s desire to change the story of inequality in South Africa, responding with compassion and courage to the challenges faced by our nation," the Kolisi Foundation states.
They have launched their blanket drive this year in partnership with Stor-Age and they are collecting at 51 different locations.
Rachel said: “The majority of South Africans always want to help and they always want to play their part and give back what they can. Through the partnership with Stor-Age, we are going to be collecting blankets, either new or second-hand."
The truth is that under normal circumstances, we all want to help each other and during times like these it's so important for us to share with those that don't have the basic amenities. The Kolisi Foundation is allowing us to help someone out this winter and sometimes we just don't know how to help.
The couple have been helping those in need and affected the most by the pandemic. In previous donations, they have provided PPEs and food to areas that have been hit hard by COVID-19.
If you have a spare blanket - donate it - it doesn't have to be with the foundation per se but just keeping someone warm this winter can make a difference.
