INSPIRING: Local dentist helps restore a man's smile after he was attacked in an armed robbery
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Sanele Ngiba was involved in an armed robbery a few years ago and during the attack, he sustained some serious injuries.
Going through trauma can be damaging to anyone's confidence, which can snowball the way things go in life. Almost anything could be a trigger to you losing your way and for this Groutville man, it was due to him being attacked in an armed robbery a few years ago.
In 2018, 32-year-old Sanele Ngiba was assaulted at gun point and he was left with serious injuries. The attack left his front teeth disfigured and therefore he had literally lost his smile.
Sanele Ngiba enquired about getting his teeth fixed at a private dentist, but the cost was beyond his means, totalling R16,000. He also went to the General Gizenga Mpanza Hospital in KwaDukuza, and here he was told that he could not be assisted due to the amount of nerve damage that he had.
This left him feeling discouraged and, of course, it turned into him suffering from low self-esteem. How sad it is that we have to go through certain experiences that leave us feeling deflated and somewhat damaged.
But there is always hope...
Sanele's story was covered by The North Coast Courier, which led to him finding a doctor willing to take his case on and restore his confidence.
“After my story was published in the Courier, I got a call from Dr. Cericola asking me to come in. He found an infection and had to re-do the front teeth, a procedure that took about 5 months,” said Ngiba. (North Coast Courier)
Sanele is feeling refreshed and revitalised after his procedure and has found the confidence to go out and find a job, as well as go and pursue a teaching degree with the University of South Africa.
Just another happy ending. Good people still exist...
