GoodLuck, Lira, Gigi Lamayne, and Mariechan release song for 16 days of Activism
Four of South Africa's most talented musicians have come together to help in the fight against gender-based violence.
Gender-based violence has become a major crisis in South Africa and has even been classified as a second pandemic.

Whether we see these stories of abuse on our timelines, hear about it on the news, or from friends and family, it seems as if we can't escape it.
But the fight continues and South Africans have made it clear that we are taking a stand, by raising awareness and actively seeking change - men and women are saying: enough is enough.

Now, four of the biggest names in the South African music industry have decided to team up to release the single, 'My Body (Stand Up)'.
Partnering with 1st for Women Insurance, Gigi Lamayne, Lira, Mariechan and Jules Harding (GOODLUCK) have made it clear that they will not be silenced in their remake of this familiar song.
I think one of the most important tools I have is my voice and I am thrilled to be able to lend my voice to this cause. We all have a responsibility to do something about women abuse and I am appealing to men to take care of us and to women – make your voices heard

'My Body' features samples from a familiar song, written by the educational psychologist Peter Alsop, which teaches kids and adults about themes such as consent and boundaries.
The song was produced in 1983 and was taught in schools across the world as part of a sexual abuse prevention programme, and is once again being put to good use by raising funds in the fight against GBV.

The song is available for download, with all the funds raised being donated to the 1st for Women Foundation.
The 1st for Women Foundation has contributed an incredible amount to assist women suffering from abuse.
Since 2005 they have been able to help over 90,000 victims and survivors of abuse, while also contributing over R81-million to various organisations involved in the fight against women abuse

They have also launched a school-based programme at five Primary and High schools in Diepsloot, as well as 20 registered ECD Centres.
