Durban North cleaning initiative hailed as a success

Nothing quite compares to the spirit of KZNers. No matter what the cause, we always see people from all walks of life come together to show their giving spirit.
This time it was the Durban North community that came together to show support for Enviro Fixers Durban North's first pop-up store initiative.
"Residents donated clothing items for the store on Swapo Road (Broadway) and then Enviro Fixers sold them to raise funds for various projects, such as the cleaning, greening and upliftment initiatives they are involved in." (North Glen News)

The donations from community members were repurposed for sale at the pop-up store. In addition, many of the items were also packed up and donated to two nearby informal settlements.
Briardene and Kennedy Road informal settlements were recipients of hundreds of clothing items from the donation drive.
The response from the community was such a success that one of the members from Enviro Fixers Durban North said that they are thinking of hosting a pop-up store annually.

Helen Koch told the North Glen News: "The feedback we received from residents was so positive, and we are glad that others will get joy from previously loved pieces of clothing."
She touched on how without the community's support, Enviro Fixers would not work.
Koch also spoke about the "bus-stop murals and the upkeep of the Bridgevale Park Nature Reserve", saying the pop-up store was a great testament to their idea of "reusing and recycling and not adding to our landfills".
