Confused parent says revision exam maths problem doesn't make sense
Updated | By East Coast Radio
We need an answer!
It is not often that parents openly admit that they do not know the answer to things.
But we have evolved (to some extent) into a generation of parenting that is not afraid of saying, "I don't know".
And that is admirable.
By saying this, we are showing our kids that we don't in fact know everything and we are also just on this road of learning with them.
For this dad, it wasn't about admitting that he didn't know the answer.
It was a bigger, more difficult question that needs addressing.
As he was helping his daughter go through a revision examination paper, they came across a question that made no sense.
And this is something that has happened in the past, but not many have had the courage to question it.

Seems like the person who created the question was either sleepy when they did it or doesn't know about proofreading.
Because that certainly makes no sense to us.
Now if there is one thing we have learnt about certain exam papers, it's that there is a missing link to the process.
Perhaps maths teachers need to work with English teachers to come up with the word problems, because we have to agree with this parent, this was a blinding mistake.
And what's worse is that in some circumstances, these questions appear in the actual exam papers, which leaves the student dumbfounded.
