Updated | By East Coast Radio
We follow Carol Ofori as she takes a journey on discovering KZN and asks listeners to share the peaks of their towns. This week it's Richards Bay, found on the north coast of Durban.
For those of you who don't know (we're won't judge you), Carol Ofori is discovering the province of KwaZulu-Natal and in her mission, she asks KZN Listeners to help her find out about those nook and cranny towns. She started her #ClaimToFame segment a few months ago and this week she has decided to open it up to the town of Richards Bay.
We are all about finding the love for all those places that make up our beautiful province. When it comes to Richards Bay, we were so surprised to see the amazing facts about this town that is situated towards the North Coast of Durban.
When we put this post out on Thursday night, we were bowled away with the number of people that spoke about Deejay Nivaadh Singh. So much love for this DJ came to light that Carol had to speak to him.
It turns out that Deejay Nivaadh brings the base to the town every Friday and Saturday night with his online mix that leaves people feeling nostalgic of a time where we could dance the night away.
Carol Ofori, being who she is, went on to find out some cool facts about Richards Bay and she wanted to show her love for this town by sharing it with the whole of KZN.
Richards Bay now has the largest export coal terminal in the world, where 65-million tons is loaded every year at this town in KwaZulu-Natal. Many specialised ships that stop here are a must-see for maritime enthusiasts. Richards Bay Minerals' enormous operations top the list of Industrial Tourism opportunities. (Siyabona Website)
Richards Bay forms part of the Zululand Birding Route which includes the harbour and game reserve called New Mouth; some rare birds like the pygmy goose and cuckoo hawk can be seen here. (Siyabona Website)
Check out the top 10 things to do in Richards bay here. For everyone looking for a vibe, don't forget to check out Deejay Nivaadh Singh live tonight at 9pm on Facebook Live.
