Boy evades being abducted by using a technique his father taught him
Updated | By East Coast Radio
This is both scary and insightful...
A 10-year-old boy, Sammy Green, was walking home from school and noticed a woman following him.
She began chatting with him and asked him questions about his family, whether he wanted to come with her to a local store, enticing him by saying he could get anything he wanted from the store.
But this young man didn't feel right and followed his dad's advice.
"As he didn't know the woman, the fourth-grader ducked into Dani Bee Funky, a store that was familiar to him. Sammy then approached a 17-year-old cashier named Hannah, telling her to "act like you're my mom, this lady is following me." (People)
We are so impressed with his confidence and demeanour. Video footage from the convenience store showed how he entered the store and whispered something to the cashier.
All while the stranger waited outside the store door for him.

We know that talking to your kids about things like kidnapping and trafficking isn't a conversation you look forward to.
But it certainly is a conversation that every parent needs to have with their children.
In this case, this young boy was saved because he remembered what his dad had taught him and practiced it.
Sammy's dad told the news station that it pays to think of any and every possible scenario, and act it out with them.
If you haven't chatted to your child about things such as sex crimes, abduction, trafficking, and kidnapping, then we suggest you do. And if you are struggling, then seek out help from a professional.
