Are you paying too much for your favourite chocolate bars?

Yes, chocolate pricing is an important conversation to have...
With everything going on in the world, it may seem silly to focus on the price of chocolates. But as you know, we have our priorities in order and like any great chocolate lover, we focus on the important things in life.
If you didn't already know, the price of a chocolate bar comes from a range of things. It depends on factors such as the ingredients, the recipe, as well as the distribution and the sales and marketing it takes to sell the chocolate.
As a way of gaining some "clarity on the best chocolate sizes to buy, Business Insider South Africa calculated the price per gram across all sizes of six popular chocolates currently for sale in South African supermarkets."
Talk about being efficient in their mission! We are more about testing the tastes rather than the price, any excuse to get our chocolate on. But we get why this could be important to do, besides it being a fair way of looking at the price we pay for consumables, it also has a hidden health factor.
"Some chocolate bars are cheapest when you buy them in a bag of miniatures, which might make sense given the higher capital outlay for these bags over smaller bars. These bags usually require you spend up to R40 on chocolate. But that doesn't explain why some miniatures are much more expensive per gram than other sizes - unless you consider that these may require more packaging than individual bars." (Business Insider)

So often we say that eating healthy is costly. But we fail to acknowledge the amount of money we so easily give away when it comes to junk food. Take a look at the difference in prices according to size.
