#AppreciationMonday: Dad prepares care package for daughter for her first period
Updated | By East Coast Radio
We love the sentiment behind this and what better way to show appreciation than by sharing it...
Being a daddy's girl is something that not all girls get to experience. The truth is, we wish that all girls get to experience that feeling.
A wonderfully sweet story about a father who is changing the way males and females feel about young women coming of age has us in 'mush mode'.
It was a complete shift in the script when it comes to how we've been traditionally trained to feel about 'periods'.
There is this awkwardness that comes with talking about your period with your dad or any male. But that stereotype is slowly but surely fading away.
If you're wondering why, it's because both males and females are breaking those stigmas and opening up about what actually happens during a women's cycle.
With period stimulators and many men sharing their caring natures towards their partners during their cycles, there is a sense of understanding now that was missing traditionally. Which has made it less daunting to talk about.
This father added to the feeling of comfort and understanding when it comes to being a dad to a daughter. He shared how being a dad has been an achievement with scary responsibilities (said all parents).
And then he goes and makes our hearts melt by preparing what he called a 'Happy Pack' aka a care package for his daughter who he believes may get her first period soon.
Everyone loved the sentiment behind this gesture, and it showed with the thousands of shares and the story being featured on the news.
Check out what he wrote to her in a handwritten card that accompanied the box:
We can all learn something from this dad. He not only was brave enough to share this with the world, but, most importantly, he was brave enough to be there for his daughter in a way that she will always remember.
