#AppreciationMonday: Carol Ofori spills the beans on National Cappuccino Day

We have to admit that there is nothing quite like a well brewed coffee, something that gets you with its aroma. That morning cuppa joe that literally percolates your entire day.
Carol Ofori has admittedly shared her love for bespoke coffee shops in the past.
But on this special day, National Cappuccino Day, she has decided to share her favourite coffee spot with KZN one more time. It's called African Roots Coffee and it has all the makings of a special retreat for coffee lovers.
When it comes to the history of the drink that many of us have a very close relationship with, it stems from Vienna in the 16th century. But the popularity of the cappuccino grew in the early 1900s when some restaurants acquired coffee machines.
But the cappuccino reached its peak in popularity in the States when it was introduced in Seattle by Starbucks. As much as this day is not really owned by any one such brand, it is definitely a day we appreciate, as it allows us to appreciate a drink that we truly savour.

When Carol Ofori decides to share something personal, she rarely leaves it at that, so when she decided to open up about her favourite coffee spot, it came with an opportunity to chat with a master barista. Not just any ordinary master, a master so strong that he is the 2020 South African Cup Tasters Champ, Wency Masawi.
Wency chatted with Carol about making the perfect cappuccino and we got to watch him in his zone while he crafted two different blends. As soon we walked in, his passion for making that perfect cup of cappuccino for each customer was evident. More than that, the neatness and love for his job shone through.
Enjoying a cappuccino is much more than just enjoying the craft and the pretty designs that Wency makes for his customers. It is an experience, it's about craving that one cup of joy to get your day started on a great note, or sharing it with a friend over a lunch date, it's your therapist when you are just not having a great day - and so much more to many coffee drinkers.
But the best part of enjoying a cappuccino is that it helps you start a conversation with someone. It is definitely the reason for someone to find a reason to ask you out, or to catch up.
