When Facebook was down...

Office workers around the globe were met with a Facebook error message at around 10.15am local time - and worldwide productivity spiked. 

 

Tongue in cheek tweets about Facebook (and its users) then started streaming in as the news broke about the social network being, well, broken. 

 

A little later, Facebook was working again after around 20 minutes offline, a period which the Gaurdian is calling "its longest service disruption in living memory."

 

#WhenFacebookWasDown and #AsFacebookWasDown has been trending on Twitter, worldwide, since.

Damon: I didn't even realize it was down! 

 

Rory: I walked outside for the first time in four years and learned that my garden was so overgrown it had been turned by the council into a sanctuary for lost and abandoned pets.
