Darren is a grammar snob

Darren has a habit on social media that many people might consider annoying... In fact, it was recently voted as one of the most irritating things you can do on social media.

There are a couple of guys out there, big name guys on Twitter and Facebook that purposefully put grammatical and spelling errors in their posts, just to get the reaction!

Because the reaction they get is massive and I know, as a strategy, it's sound and very clever but I still can't bring myself to make a spelling error or grammatical error in any of my posts.

It could be because it was the only subject I excelled in at school, and that I really enjoyed. And also, when I studied drama, language and text analysis and interpretation required a heightened scrutiny of the subtleties of communication.

So to ask me to retard my excellence in that realm is like asking Van Gogh to do water colours with a child or asking the guy who built The Empire State building to do some construction on your roads in your area because you might have a few potholes.

It can't be done! So if I do spot the difference between there, their and they're in your post it is almost my moral responsibility to correct you and help you in your quest for English excellence.

'Weird Al' Yankovic has weighed in on the debate...this is what he has to say on the matter.

The ultimate song for grammar snobs:

Darren corrects people’s grammar on social media: does this make him a social media chop...what to do you think?
