The Big Favour gives the joy of reading
Updated | By Rory Petzer
Rotary E Club of south Africa President Inge Kotze wrote in to the Big Favour after discovering a crèche in Lamontville with over 200 children between the ages of 3 and 5 years old.
Inge wrote asking us to make contact with KiddoRead with the hope something could be arranged to assist with the education of the children in Lamontville.
Thanks to Adila Moosa and her incredible team at KiddoRead, these children will all be taught to read.
Adila says KiddoRead focuses on the decoding and deciphering of words, rather than simply teaching children with a parrot-style.
"A child who is able to read fluently has the ability to excel in all academic fields," says Adila.
All the children at the crèche in Lamontville will join KiddoRead's program that requires only 10-15 minutes of their time daily for a 3-4 month period.
So, thanks to Rotary E Club South Africa and KiddoRead, these children will not only discover the joy of reading, but will also be given a really big head start in life.
