Top surfing at New Pier
Updated | By Andre Bloem
New Pier will host the Quiksilver Pro Junior this weekend.
Local surfer, Slade Prestwich, is the defending champion in Durban.
Prestwich considers New Pier a familiar and favourite venue.
"I surf there every single day. It is my home break and my boards are going really well right now. The banks are really good at the moment and I know New Pier like the back of my mind," he said.
"The weather does not affect me. I have surfed New Pier in a variety of conditions and know the waves really well," Prestwich added.
He expects stiff competition from the likes of Michael February (Cape Town) and Dylan Lightfoot (Jeffreys Bay).
