The KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union have given fans the incentive that the first 1000 people to purchase tickets for the test match will receive their tickets from just R54 as a way of welcoming the fans back into the stadium.

Following the president’s address to the nation on Tuesday, 50% of the Stadium’s capacity will be accommodated for five days and will include the full fan experience with food courts and SAB bars in full operation.

Not only is it an important test match from a series perspective but the test series will also form part of the ICC World Test Championship and a series victory will go a long way in giving the Proteas the chance of playing in the Championship final.

South Africa currently sits in second place on the overall log behind Australia with three wins and two losses from their five matches so far in the tournament and a win in Durban will go a long way to setting up another important series win.

Following their impressive series win over India at the start of the year and then a drawn campaign in New Zealand, the current ICC World Test Champions, the Proteas test team are in a good space going into this two-match shoot-out.

The Proteas side will also boast a number of Hollywoodbets Dolphins players in their ranks with SJ Erwee expected to open the batting after his heroics in New Zealand and the Player of the Series against India Keegan Petersen primed for a return to the side after missing the tour to New Zealand.

The country’s premier spinner and Hollywoodbets Dolphins limited overs captain Keshav Maharaj is also expected to play a big role in the side once again – especially on his home ground.

“To be able to welcome back half a stadium’s worth of fans to witness the Proteas in a test match again is hugely exciting,” CEO of KZN Cricket Heinrich Strydom said.

“It’s been 25 months since we have hosted international men’s cricket at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium and to have a test match back here is the pinnacle of cricket and we are looking forward to it.

“We have made significant upgrades to the stadium but unfortunately due to Covid-19 we haven’t been able to show the fans because we only have one match before lockdown here.

“We hope that the returning fans will be able to come and appreciate all the hard work that has gone into making Kingsmead a stadium experience like no other,” Strydom added.

Tickets for the test match that starts on Thursday at 10:00 are available on www.ticketpros.co.za.
