Smart catches in Richards Bay
Updated | By Andre Bloem
Richards Bay anglers who were in-the-know fished the harbour during the recent bad weather.
Small kingfish and a few grunter were caught using various techniques from traditional chokka baits to drop-shot and artificial lures.
Meanwhile, the large number of up-country visitors staying in the Umhlanga area has meant a much larger than usual contingent of fisherman flocking to the beach. The gullies and white-water area to the left of the new pier were put to good use with some small Natal stumpnose, stone bream and blacktail being caught. The Trekking for Trash expedition team should be on the mid-south coast today. Please keep your eyes open for them and feel free to join in or offer your support as they clean our beaches and create awareness about littering.
Windguru is predicting light NW winds this morning swinging to light NEs by this afternoon. Surfers should try to get in the water as soon as possible today. This after yesterday’s SWs and a slight increase in the swell yesterday afternoon. We are in for clear skies today and temperatures ranging from 14–26 degrees.
Saturday and Sunday also have clear skies predicted with NW winds in the morning, replaced by NE winds in the afternoon. It sure looks as though we are in for some perfect beach weather over the next three days.
