Flick to take over German job
Updated | By Nick Tatham
Outgoing Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick will become the new German national coach after the upcoming Euro 2020 competition.
After 15 years in charge of the national team and one World Cup triumph Joachim Loew will stand down as the national coach to be replaced by his former assistant.
Flick was part of the coaching staff when Germany won the World Cup in Brazil and is looking forward to taking over the ultimate job in German football.
"It's all gone surprisingly quickly, but I am very happy to be Germany coach from the autumn," said Flick via AFP. "I am hugely excited, because I see the class of players, and especially young players, which we have in Germany."
The 56 year old has signed a three year deal with the DFB seeing him in charge of the side through the qualifying for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar in 2022.
In 2020 Flick lead Bayern to a second treble in the club's history and then followed that up with the club's nineth consecutive league title.
