Danish players unhappy with Finland restart

Eriksen collapsed on the field while medics were forced to perform CPR on the player in order to revive him following a cardiac arrest which left players and fans stunned.

The match resumed after the player regained consciousness and was stretched off the pitch in Copenhagen, however for goalkeeper Kasper Schmiechel they needed to reschedule the match.

"We were put in a position, that I personally feel that we shouldn't have been put in," Schmeichel said via AFP.

"We had two options; either come back the day after (Sunday) at noon or continue the game."

Given the severity of the situation, Schmiechel believes that a better decision could have been made in the moment.

“It wasn't the time to take that decision, and that we should maybe wait until the day after to decide.”

"What has happened has happened, and hopefully they'll learn from this," he added.

Eriksen’s condition is stable and he will remain in hospital for observation following the revelation that he had suffered cardia arrest.

"He was gone, and we did cardiac resuscitation," doctor Morten Boesen told a press conference.

"How close were we? I don't know. We got him back after one defib (defibrillation), so that's quite fast," Boesen added.

The player's agent said via AFP that he was well but eager to get to the bottom of what happened.

"We spoke this morning (Sunday). He was joking, and in good spirits, I found him well," Schoots told Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

"We all want to find out what happened, him included. The doctors are conducting detailed tests, it'll take time."

Denmark's next match in the competition is against the number one side in the world Belgium on Thursday and following their opening round loss will need to win to have a chance of advancing past the group phase.
