Police in KwaZulu-Natal have arrested thirteen people in connection with the disruption of traffic on the N3 highway in the province.
A series of protests broke out on Friday morning in Durban and Richards Bay, apparently in support of former president Jacob Zuma.
Police Minister Bheki Cele revealed the scores of arrests during a briefing in the province.

It is alleged the protestors took the keys of truck drivers in attempt to block the roads.
"I want to congratulate the police for having arrested 13 people already this morning who have blocked the roads.
"Those thirteen people who blocked the roads, we found some keys from them that they have taken as they forced drivers to abandon their trucks so that they can cause chaos on the road."
Cele added that police prevented attempted looting of shops at Pavillion shopping centre.

"There is a lot of criminality that is pitching and niching on this thing.
"Those who were around the N3, they also tried to loot the shops at Pavillion and that's why police need to be really tough and act quick
