South Coast water shortage places municipality's reputation at stake
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
The South Coast Chamber of Commerce and Industry says the Ugu District Municipality's reputation as a popular holiday destination has been tarnished.
This follows disruptions to the region's water supply.
Some workers abandoned their duties recently following issues with their group life scheme - leaving the area without water for around a week.

The chamber's Ivan Naidoo says the lack of water has had a severe impact on the region - especially the services industry.
"Many of the visitors who have come down to the coast and visited restaurants but they could not use the toilet. Restaurants were not able to make any beverages because there was no water there as well," he said.
Ugu said in a statement that it's working tirelessly to restore supply.
