Sadtu wants new KZN Education HOD to deal with safety, racism

The South African Democratic Teachers Union says KZN Education's new HOD has his work cut out for him.
Sadtu is calling on Godfrey Ngcobo to give special attention to school safety and security, as well as racism.
The teachers' union's welcomed his appointment this week, saying it's looking forward to working with him.
The union's spokesperson Nomarashiya Caluza says filling vacant teacher posts and adjustments to pay for Grade R educators are some of their main concerns.

But she says, crime and racism have become serious challenges in the classroom.
"He must lead in ensuring that we all denounce these issues of racism in schools and deal with everything that threatens the safety and security in schools."
