Recent rains sees closure of some KZN south coast beaches
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Some beaches on the KZN south coast have been closed to bathers temporarily due to changes in the water quality amid the heavy rains.
The KZN Sharks Board has released a statement to say that it's decided to stop swimming at beaches between Isipingo and Umgababa.
It says it's monitoring the poor quality of brown, muddy water at these beaches because of recent rainfall.
The board has recommended that swimmers keep out of the water for a while.

Sapphire Coast Tourism spokesperson Romy Wentzel says the beaches are still open for other activities, like picnics, jogging and biking.
She says visitors to the area can still enjoy the beach without getting into the water.
"This is not E.coli related. The Sharks Board has removed all shark gear along the coast. They will now monitor for the colour of the water and when they feel its right again to put back the gear then certain beaches may open."
Pipeline and Amanzimtoti Main Beach have reopened as of today.
