UPDATE: Durban Metro Police dispatched to N2 protest

TRAFFIC IS NOW FREE-FLOWING ALONG THE N2 SOUTHBOUND CARRIAGEWAY IN THE VICINITY OF CHESTERVILLE. DURBAN METRO POLICE REMAIN ON THE SCENE AFTER PROTEST ACTION ERUPTED THERE EARLIER THIS AFTERNOON.
Durban Metro Police are on the N2 in the vicinity of Chesterville following protest action on the freeway.
Residents from a nearby informal settlement allegedly barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris after their homes were demolished last week.

Durban Metro police say traffic in both directions has been affected.Spokesperson, Parboo Sewpersadh is urging motorists to avoid the area.
"Be cautious when you approach the four-level interchange (EB Cloete / Spaghetti Junction) and stay away from any protest action. Please try and avoid debris in the area," he said.
No arrests have been made.
