Nehawu warns of national strike if demands are not met
KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Sihle Zikalala has promised government will do right by workers in the province.
Members of National Education, Health and Allied Workers' Union (Nehawu) marched on his office in Pietermaritzburg on Thursday.
They are demanding safer working conditions in the healthcare sector - and an end to corruption.
"Failure to respond positively will, unfortunately, leave us with no option but to withdraw our labour power in all the sectors that Nehawu organises as from the 10th September 2020," the union said in a statement.
It's given government "an ultimatum of five days to respond positively and favourable to our demands."

Nehawu members handed Zikalala a memorandum of demands addressed to President Cyril Ramaphosa.
"In the name of the KZN government, we wish to confirm that among other's, the memorandum speaks about fighting against corruption and money spent by government must be spent accordingly.
"The current government is the government that has been voted for by South African citizens and for that fact, we are committing to do doing right by the working class," says Zikalala.
