Misuzulu coronation revolves around loyalty to Zulu kingdom - cultural expert
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
All roads lead to Nongoma this weekend, where the Zulu nation's new king will be crowned.
King Misuzulu KwaZwelithini will enter the "cattle kraal" at KwaKhethomthandayo Royal Palace.
It's part of preparing for him to succeed his father, King Goodwill Zwelithini, who passed away last year.
The road to the coronation has been a bumpy one, as the family is divided on who is the rightful heir to the throne.

It was reported last weekend that Prince Simakade ka Zwelinthini entered the kraal.
On Thursday, King Zwelinthini's brothers said they wanted another one of his sons, Buzabazi ka Zwelithini to step into the role.
Cultural expert at the University of KwaZulu Natal, Dr. Gugu Mazibuko says this weekend's events will mainly revolve around Misuzulu pledging his loyalty to the Zulu kingdom and the Zulu Nation, in turn, them pledging their loyalty to him.

"It is mainly about pledging. The king will be pledging to the nation and the nation will be pledging loyalty to the king Amabuto as well as Amakhosi.
"So what is most important is that there will be a lot of prayers, praising, and communicating with the nation. But the finer details are sacred and are not for everyone's consumption."
After Saturday's rituals, the coronation process will be completed at another ceremony presided by President Cyril Ramaphosa set to take place in the coming months.
