ANC deputy president
Paul Mashatile has hinted at a possible announcement on the country's new
electricity minister soon.
He says President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to appoint the person in charge of the portfolio in the next few days.
Mashatile spoke at the National Union of Mineworkers' special conference in Boksburg on Wednesday night.
He told delegates that Eskom needs a CEO who knows how to get power stations to work, and deliver an uninterrupted electricity supply.

"The president indicated that he going to appoint a minister of electricity hopefully in the next few days. So at the ANC we welcome that.
"We hope it will ensure that there is a dedicated capacity and resources aimed at addressing one of the biggest challenges of our time, which is energy insecurity."
