A man who was seriously injured after being impaled on a fence at the weekend is receiving specialised treatment in hospital.

Paramedics arrived on scene on Saturday evening to find a man, believed to be in his 20s, impaled on a fence along Masabalala Yengwa Avenue, that is the old NMR Avenue, in the vicinity of Smiso Nkwanyana (Goble) Road.
Emergency services say the man had fallen onto the fence and was found hanging upside down by his legs.
Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson says emergency services and Durban firefighters used specialised equipment to cut and lower part of the fence.
