KZN drowning incidents claim four lives

KZN authorities are investigating three separate drowning incidents in the province this weekend that left four people dead.

In one incident - two men drowned at Virginia beach in Durban North yesterday.
Netcare911 paramedics responded to the incident and on their arrival found that the second man had tried to save a fisherman who has washed off from the pier.
Athlende Mathe says emergency services tried for some time to resuscitate a 25-year-old man who was found at the shoreline.
"Sadly, there was nothing more that paramedics could do and the man was declared dead at the scene. The second body of a 23-year-old man washed up on the beach and sadly the man was also declared dead at the scene by paramedics," she said.

The exact details as to what happened is being investigated by police.
Meanwhile in another incident - police are investigating a case of inquest after a 16-year-old girl drowned at Blue Lagoon in Durban on Saturday night.
The body of a man was also recovered from the Izotsha River near Port Shepstone on the KZN south coast at the weekend.
