Prince Simakade has maintained that he is their father, King Zwelithini's successor.

He's filed papers in the High Court in Pretoria asking it to set aside President Cyril Ramaphosa's recognition of his brother as the rightful king.

Prince Smakade also wants the Prime Minister of the Zulu nation Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi not to hold any official meetings with King Misuzulu.

King Misuzulu's spokesperson Prince Thulani says they'll wait to hear what the court decides.

"The king is aware that he is being challenged and he is waiting for the legal team to defend him as they have done before. This is how wars are fought these days."

Prince Thulani says the court case won't impact this weekend's reed dance.

"uMkhosi Womhlanga will continue as usual. Preparations are at a high stage. We are waiting to welcome the maidens from all corners of the country."
