Eastern Cape police say search and rescue teams are trying to recover the bodies of four people killed when a helicopter crashed near Port St Johns yesterday.
Provincial police spokesperson Sibongile Soci says they're hopeful the SA Defence Force will assist their operations.
She says they received information late yesterday afternoon that the chopper had gone down:
"We couldn't confirm the number of the people that were in the helicopter but the people who could see at the bottom of the cliff said there were four people that they could visibly see.
"Last night, we could not access the area to rescue but plans are underway for the search and rescue team to go the area to recover the helicopter and the four deceased bodies," she said.
The helicopter had reportedly been travelling from Margate on the KZN south coast when it crashed.
