Protestors barricaded the road with burning tyres causing both roadways to close this afternoon.

Metro’s Parboo Sewpersad said while the crowd has been dispersed, there is still a heavy presence of law enforcement on stand by in the area.

Sewpersad believes the unrest is due to the lack of electricity at neighbouring informal settlement.

“There are some residents without electricity due to two transformers which have blown in the area,” he said.
