City warns unauthorised contractors doing work to stop

eThekwini is warning contractors who carry out unauthorised work in the city they won't be paid.
The City says it has been inundated with reports of contractors refurbishing ablution facilities in various informal settlements.
Municipal spokesperson, Msawakhe Mayisela the municipality has received numerous reports of contractors refurbishing ablution facilities at several informal settlements.
He says those without a valid purchase order, won't be entertained.

"It's a serious concern for us because our procurement policies are clear. This is happening in quite a number of informal settlements in the city."

"So we are saying that it's only the city that appoints."
