The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Social Development has welcomed the arrest of a Bulwer man, who's alleged to have raped his daughter over a period of nine years.
A team of social workers was sent to the Midlands community of KwaMakhongwane on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old woman, who is pregnant, told them that she'd been groomed and suffered years of abuse after her mother's death.
She later opened a case against her 52-year-old father, who's since been arrested.
MEC Nonhlanhla Khoza's commended the officers for their swift response and strongly condemned all forms of abuse and gender-based violence.
She's called on all communities to show the same dedication in exposing such crimes.
"No child is safe if a person is able to sleep with his daughter and act as if it is normal. The call to fight social ills, sexual abuse, rape and gender-based violence requires us to be dedicated in exposing those involved in such crimes."
Meanwhile the victim has been moved to a place of safety where she's receiving psycho-social support.
