Anti-apartheid activist, Agnes Msimang dies at 89

In a statement released by the Presidency, President Cyril Ramaphosa has described late struggle veteran, Agnes Msimang as a true servant of the people.
The ANC stalwart died yesterday at a Johannesburg hospital at the age of 89, surrounded by her family.
A statement issued by her family says Msimang went through a series of short illnesses after suffering a stroke in 2016.
Msimang is the holder of the National Order of Luthuli in Silver - awarded in 2014. In 2016, she received the OR Tambo Lifetime Achievement Award.

The former Deputy President of the ANC Women’s League was among many women sent on exile, and mobilized communities across the country against apartheid.
"Msimang never wavered in her dedication to the struggle and to nurturing new generations of activists and fighters who helped our nation to secure its freedom, " Ramaphosa said.
