ANC in KZN elects Siboniso Duma as chair

Siboniso Duma has been elected as the new chairperson of the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal.
Duma came out on top after some 1 600 delegates cast their ballots at the party’s elective conference in Durban on Saturday night.
Duma, who is a member of the KZN legislature and former ANC Youth League deputy chair, bagged the top post with 930 votes compared to the 665 incumbent Sihle Zikalala received.
Nomagugu Simelane, who was the only woman elected to the top five, is the new deputy chairperson, while Bheki Mtolo was voted in as the provincial secretary.
Sipho Hlomuka was elected as his deputy.

Speaking shortly after his election was confirmed, Duma lauded the role played by Zikalala as provincial chairperson.
“We must thank the role that has been played by the out-going PEC that has been led by comrade Sihle Zikalala, who is now the former Chairperson, who’s currently the premier of KwaZulu-Natal.”
The conference will draw to an end on Sunday following the nomination and election of additional members.
It’s still unclear if President Cyril Ramaphosa will close the conference.
