A familiar face greeted  'The Expresso Morning Show' viewers on Monday morning. Katlego Maboe returned to the show after nearly two years off-air.

The 35-year-old was welcomed back with big smiles and open arms. Things got emotional when Katlego sat down for a chat with co-host,  Graeme Richards.

During the chat, Katlego revealed what he has been up to and how his life has changed since he was last on the show.

"The new me is not the old me but there are certainly elements of the old me that remain... There have been many touch-and-go moments where self-identity was questioned - 'who am I? What am I here for? What am I good for?' But I have worked my way through it with the help of friends and family," he said.

Katlego took a break from the show in late 2020 after he was accused of cheating on his then partner, Monique Muller. She also made abuse claims against the presenter.

"After a protracted legal process, the courts absolved Maboe against these allegations in January 2022," S3 (SABC 3) said in a statement last week.

Katlego admitted that he is not perfect but hopes to be a better man for his son, Phoenix.

“I see the benefit that I have had a solid, two-and-a-half years of core, quality time with my son, and nothing could ever replace that. No amount of money, dreams, ambition or achievement could ever replace that.”

He also opened up about his darkest moment over the past two years.

"There was a moment when I thought the darkest thoughts... and you think, wouldn’t it be better if it was just done? My family wouldn’t have to worry about having to call me every day... But, the reason for it all needs to come from somewhere, and, for me, that was Phoenix," he told Graeme.

Katlego closed out the show by performing, Shania Twain's 'Still The One'.
