Trevor Noah personally pays furloughed 'Daily Show' staff's salaries

Trevor Noah is receiving praise for ensuring his colleagues at 'The Daily Show' continue to receive a salary despite being furloughed. 

The South African comedian is reportedly paying the wages of 25 staff members who were placed on a temporary leave of absence when production on the show was brought to a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic. 

According to Variety magazine, Trevor has vowed to continue paying their wages until production resumes. 

"These are the people who have been on the show with Trevor from day one and help him put on the show,” a mole told the publication.

'The Daily Show', which is recorded in New York City,  banned live audiences in March amid Covid-19 fears. 

NYC is the epicenter of America's coronavirus outbreak. More than 68,000 people have died in the country. 

Several other TV hosts, including Ellen DeGeneres, also banned live studio audiences amid an industry-wide shutdown.

Trevor has been recording 'The Daily Show' from his multi-million Rand penthouse in the Big Apple. The show has temporarily been renamed, 'The Daily Social Distancing Show'.

The 36-year-old is one of the richest comedians in the world.

Forbes magazine named Trevor the fourth highest earning comedian in 2019. He reportedly made $28-million - which is over half-a-billion Rand according to the latest US Dollar-Rand exchange rate. 

We're glad to see our golden boy doing his bit during the coronavirus pandemic.
