Team Red! Nadia Jaftha and Trevor Lagerway win 'Tropika Island of Treasure'
Nadia and Trevor won a shared R1-million after coming out victorious in the 'Tropika Island of Treasure' finale.
'Team Cool Red' are smiling all the way to the bank after being declared winners of the latest season of 'Tropika Island of Treasure'.
Digital influencer Nadia Jaftha and athlete Trevor Lagerway beat Siphesihle Vazi and Darren Solomon (Team Mango Peach) during this week's exhilarating finale.
Nadia and Trevor had a bit of an edge over the competition during the final challenge. They got a one-and-a-half minute head-start thanks to the life charms they had collected.
Siphesihle and Darren managed to catch up, but Nadia and Trevor were the first to correctly guess the combination to the treasure chest.
Nadia said she was "tested and pushed" beyond her limits during the competition.
She will be donating a portion of her winnings to charity.
"I never thought that I would be the girl that would ever win a competition like this, but I had an amazing partner... As much as I want to celebrate, I also recognize that this is an incredibly trying time.. which is why I have decided to donate a portion of my winnings towards the Habibia Children’s Home and various other charities," she wrote on Instagram.
Nadia will also be putting some of the money aside to buy a house.
"Property is so expensive in Cape Town so this will definitely give me the boost I need. When it is safe to travel again, I want to spoil myself with a little trip as well," she said in a statement.
Trevor will also be donating to charity.
"I have given a big chunk of it to The Lighthouse Foundation. That was something that I felt I needed to do. With the rest of the money, the plan was to take my wife on a holiday before we welcome our baby into the world in October, but because of COVID-19, we haven’t had the chance to do that just yet. I will definitely try to be smart with the rest of the money."
The athlete praised Nadia for being the best partner he could ever ask for.
"WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!! First off, thank you so much to everyone for the love and support! You guys are the absolute best. @nadiajaftha you were so incredible and the best partner I could ask for... What a mind-blowing adventure. " Trevor wrote on Instagram.
