Still going strong! Brie Larson joins 'Fast & Furious' movie franchise

Vin Diesel and the rest of the "Fast fam" are bringing the final chapters of the franchise to an end with a big bang.
Vin Diesel has announced that 'Captain Marvel' actress, Brie Larson, has joined the 'Fast & Furious' team. She will be joining the 10th instalment of the franchise.
"… you see this angel over my shoulder cracking me up, you say to your self “that’s Captain Marvel”. Clearly, there is love and laughter in this image. What you don’t see, however, is the character you will be introduced to in Fast10. You have no idea how timeless and amazing she will be in our mythology.
"Beyond her beauty, her intellect… her Oscar, haha is this profound soul who will add something you might not have expected but yearned for," Vin Diesel, who plays Dominic Toretto, wrote.
Jason Momoa will also be appearing in 'Fast 10'.
It's been nearly 21 years since the first movie debuted on the big screen in June 2001. The movie earned a whopping $207-million at the box office.
The last movie, 'F9', made an impressive $726.2-million.

Brie is equally excited to be joining the "Fast family".
"Excited doesn’t even begin to explain how I feel about joining the Fast family. Thank you for welcoming me in with so much kindness and excitement, @vindiesel. Can’t wait to share more (when I can)," she tweeted.

Vin Diesel's big announcement comes five months after he publicly begged Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson to return to the franchise.
"My little brother Dwayne... the time has come. The world awaits the finale of Fast 10. As you know, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. There is not a holiday that goes by that they and you don’t send well wishes... but the time has come," the 54-year-old wrote in a November 2021 post.
Vin Diesel added that legacy awaits.
"I told you years ago that I was going to fulfill my promise to Pablo. I swore that we would reach and manifest the best Fast in the finale that is 10! I say this out of love... but you must show up, do not leave the franchise idle you have a very important role to play. Hobbs can’t be played by no other. I hope that you rise to the occasion and fulfill your destiny."

The Rock was less than impressed with the post. He told CNN that he told Vin Diesel directly that he would not be returning to the franchise. The former WWE wrestler says he will always be supportive of the cast, but did not appreciate Vin Diesel's post.
"Vin’s recent public post was an example of his manipulation. I didn’t like that he brought up his children in the post, as well as Paul Walker’s death. Leave them out of it. We had spoken months ago about this and came to a clear understanding," he told CNN.
Vin Diesel starred in the original movie, 'The Fast & The Furious', alongside Tyrese Gibson , Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, and the late Paul Walker.
Other stars that have joined over the years include South African actress Charlize Theron, John Cena, Jason Statham, and Nathalie Emmanuel.
'Fast 10' is expected to drop in May 2023. There will be one more movie before the franchise will reportedly come to an end.
The tenth and eleventh films are being filmed back to back.
