Somizi uses his 'powerful' platform to support small businesses

Whether you're in the catering industry or selling toothpicks, Somizi wants to make sure your small business gets noticed in 2021.
There are just 50 days left until the end of 2020 and many people are looking forward to 2021 after a difficult year.
Somizi Mhlongo is doing his bit to make sure his followers - particularly small business owners - start the new year with a bang.
The 'Idols SA' judge took to Instagram to explain a new initiative he will be starting in 2021.
"I've got a platform that is powerful enough and has a huge following, where I can use it to support and promote undiscovered, beginners or ideas or businesses that might not necessarily get the opportunity or afford to pay for advertising," he said.
Somgaga has 3.6-million followers on Instagram, which could give a lot of exposure to a business in need.
He says that on the last Friday of the month, he will be shining the spotlight on up-and-coming businesses that want to promote themselves on his page for free.
The initiative will run for the first six months of 2021.

In the meantime, small businesses can get locked 'n loaded with East Coast Radio.
The station launched the advertising platform during the lockdown to help small business owners get access to primetime radio at affordable prices.
One of ECR's favourite personalities will talk about your business for 20 seconds during the day at a dramatically reduced cost. Click here to find out more about Lock 'n Load.
