Something Chopra! Priyanka addresses awkward encounter with Rosie O’Donnell

We've all had those awkward encounters where we bump into someone and have no idea who they are or mistake them for someone else. 

But even we are getting secondhand embarrassment from Rosie O’Donnell's awkward encounter with Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra. 

The American comedian recently bumped into the couple at a posh restaurant in Malibu, California. She greeted them before telling Priyanka that she knows her father, Deepak Chopra - the famous author.

Rosie recalled the encounter on her TikTok page.  

"I just embarrassed my son and his girlfriend, Theresa, and Fran Drescher. Because seated next to us in Malibu at Nobu was Nick Jonas and his wife, someone Chopra, which I always assumed was Deepak Chopra's daughter. 

"So, when I said, 'Hi, Nick Jonas. You were great in Kingdom' and 'Hi, I know your dad.' She goes, 'You do? Who's my dad?' And I'm like, 'Deepak.' She's like, 'No, and Chopra is a common name,'" Rosie said.

She added that she "felt so embarrassed". 

The comedian then apologised to the couple for the mix-up. 

But Priyanka is not feeling Rosie's apology. We don't blame her one bit. Her name is not "something Chopra", but 'Queen Priyanka Chopra'. 

"I have never taken myself so seriously to think everyone would know who I am, or my work for that matter. But if you wanted to make a public apology for a very awkward private encounter, I think probably best to take the time to google my name before doing it or even try to reach out directly," the 39-year-old wrote on her Instagram Story.

Rosie apologised to Priyanka in a second video. She conceded that she probably should have Googled Priyanka before making her first apology. 

She addressed Priyanka by name and stressed that the encounter was not rude just awkward.

Priyanka's father, Ashok Chopra, passed away almost nine years ago. 'The Matrix Resurrections' star, who has a "daddy's lil girl" tattoo, has paid tribute to her father on many occasions. 

We doubt Priyanka will dwell too much on her awkward encounter with Rosie. She recently announced that she welcomed her first child with Nick via surrogate. 

The couple's baby was reportedly born prematurely and had to remain in the hospital. It is unclear whether the couple has taken their daughter home yet. 

Priyanka and Nick tied the knot in December 2018. Nick popped the question after just two months of dating!
